Yeti SB 115 gets new suspension linkage to become a short travel “trail rider’s XC bike”
In the battle for aggressive XC build naming, Yeti has cast their vote for ‘down country’. That’s referring to their latest creation, the SB115. Sort of a ‘lunch ride’ version of their SB100, the new bike keeps the geometry and kinematics of the shorter travel bike but boosts the travel to be the “trail rider’s XC bike.”
Thanks to a new linkage design, Yeti was able to squeeze out 115mm of travel from the frame without affecting the efficiency of the Switch Infinity platform.
Yeti has chosen to pair this with a 130mm travel fork as they claim their 115mm of rear suspension “outperforms similar travel forks.” A more forward biased position with this longer travel fork is said to help balance the bike.
Geometry numbers include a 67.6° head tube angle, 74.1-73.9° seat tube angle (depending on size), a 44mm offset fork, and 436.7mm chainstay lengths.
Frame details include 29″ wheels, PF BB92 bottom brackets with two bolt chainguide mounts, enclosed internal cable routing, Boost 148 x 12mm dropout spacing, sealed Enduro Max pivot bearings, and a single bottle cage mount.
Available in S-XL, complete builds will be offered in their more affordable C/Series carbon frames from $4,700 – $4,900 as well as the higher end TURQ Series carbon from $6,300 – $8,000. Frames will only be offered in the TURQ series at $3,400.
