Video: 3D-printing Ganna’s hour record Pinarello

As recently as last week, many of us presumed 3D-printed UCI-approved bikes were still several years away, at least. Pinarello had other ideas, and its new Bolide F HR 3D track bike for Filippo Ganna and Dan Bigham’s Hour Records is 3D-printed in England by Metron Additive Engineering. CyclingTips visited Metron Additive Engineering to find out how and why they 3D-print an entire frame, fork, seat post, and handlebars.

In this video Dimitris Katsanis of Metron talks us through the hows and whys of 3D printing a “world record-ready” bike and why what many considered a pipe dream is just a normal day at work for the folks at Metron. Stay tuned for a Nerd Alert podcast deep-dive episode with Dimitris coming soon.
