Pro Bike Check: Norco Twins Factory Racing Sight MTBs with Caro Gehrig at EWS Zermatt
We were stoked to meet with one half of Norco Twins Factory Race Team, Caro Gehrig, at EWS Zermatt. Despite the worsening weather forecast, she was even more stoked to be getting her first race of the season on home soil in Switzerland. Caro Gehrig kindly took us through her bike setup for the weekend of racing, using her sister Anita’s Norco Sight.
Pro Bike Check: Caro & Anita Gehrig’s Norco Sight MTBs
Being twins and all, Caro and Anita Gehrig run the same components and settings on their Norco Sight race bikes. The single difference lies in the cockpit where Caro prefers to run an aluminium bar for a little extra vibration damping.
The Norco Sight normally runs a 160mm travel fork but for EWS Zermatt, Anita and Caro opted for 170mm travel Fox 38 forks. They run them at 83 PSI with the high speed compression settings fully open and the low speed compression at six clicks. At the rebound end they set the high speed to six clicks and the low speed to seven.
A 2021 Fox Float X2 air shock services 150mm of rear wheel travel. For EWS Zermatt, the Norco Twins ran the shock with damping almost fully open and the rebound set to fast.
Their Norco Sight all-mountain bikes roll on a DT Swiss EXC 1200 SPLINE wheelset with carbon rims. They are home to a WTB Verdict 2.5″ tire on the front with the High Grip compound and Tough Casing. On the rear you’ll find a WTB Judge 2.4″ tire with the same Tough Casing but the Fast Rolling compound. Caro and Anita Gehrig run a CushCore XC tire insert in the rear for its vibration damping and puncture protection benefits.
For the drivetrain, the Norco Twins run a 170mm eThirteen TRS+ carbon crankset with a 34T chainring and 9-50T cassette. Shifting is taken care of by a SRAM X01 derailleur.
Anita and Caro rely on Magura MT7 4-piston brakes for managing speed with a 203mm rotor on the front and a 180mm rotor on the rear. They run the Loic Bruni levers.
In the cockpit, Anita runs a Deity Skywire carbon handlebar cut to 760mm with 32mm Deity grips. Caro prefers the ride feel of an aluminium bar.
For the contact points, the Norco Twins run a WTB Deva saddle with a custom design by Anka Martin.
On Anita’s bike we can see Crankbrothers Mallet clipless pedals that look to have been filed down at the outer edge perhaps to improve clearance from rock strikes.
