Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) took stage win number three at Paris-Nice, crushing the breakaway dreams of Gino Mäder (Bahrain Victorious) in the closing metres of the summit finish atop Valdeblore La Colmiane.
The Slovenian beat the Swiss rider, who was the final man standing from the day’s early break, by two seconds to extend his lead at the top of the standings. 2020 winner Max Schachmann (Bora-Hansgrohe) took third at five seconds.
Yellow jersey Roglič jumped away from an elite GC group with 300 metres to go, leaving his rivals in his wake and jumping across to Mäder. Showing no mercy as he powered to the line, Roglič passed the 24-year-old within the final 50 metres to clinch another victory.
