The Camino de Santiago

Travel Back in Time

I took a trip to the city of Madrid in July 2019,because I’m a cycling enthusiast, i knew the city wasn’t great for cycling, there is a lack of bike lanes, bike rental amenities, but i knew of the Camino walk and wanted to try the cycling route, its an intermediate cycle for those looking to reward there exercise with a look into the past.

Most roads lead to the same destination when you’re The Camino de Santiago , in this case, do it by two wheels while you travel the Way of St. James. Step back in time to peruse the well-preserved prehistoric stone and thatched-roof huts of O’Cebreiro, as you make your way from the top of a ridge and cruise downhill through the verdant lushness of Galicia, ending at a working monastery.

What is the best bicycle you can use for this Custom length route

The best bike is also the most comfortable. Typically, Endurance Bikes are more relaxed and less aggressive than other road bikes. Bikes like the Endurace are designed for going the distance on the road thanks to a lightweight frame and an ergonomic riding position.

I got torn between a trail bike or electric (slightly worried about the heat)

But i finally settled for the Hiland Mountain Bike

Why I love this particular model? its perfect for the Camino

I use this particular bike now on a daily basis and definitely recommend, here are the pro’s and con’s.

  • This bike has a high quality ultralight aluminium frame and an inner wire design
  • The hydraulic brakes work great for this application plenty of stopping power.

Frame: Hiland alloy, front/rear wheel quick release

Fork: Lock out Suspension Fork

Crank: 24T*34T*42T*170mm

Shifters: LTWOO A5 3*9 SPEEDS

Rear Derailleur: LTWOO A5 9 SPEEDS

Freewheel: 13*28T

Tires: 27.5*2.10

Like everything, there are some downside’s. The derailleurs are of low qualities, but can be purchased pretty cheap on amazon.

A tip for the trip , like any other bike ride, take a repair kit that includes one or two spare tubes, a pump and tire levers. If your ride ventures into more remote territory, a spare derailleur hanger and a couple of spokes won’t weigh you down and could save your bike ride from disaster.
